EXTERIOR SURFACE PREP
Preparation of your surface before staining is a crucial step to guarantee project success. Don’t skip this! After assessing the condition of your deck, siding, or fencing, you may need one or more of these products BEFORE beginning your stain project:
PROBLEM SOLVER WOOD CLEANER
Ideal for basic cleaning before staining. Removes dirt, algae stains, and mildew stains.
PROBLEM SOLVER WOOD STRIPPER
Safely removes paint and other oil-based finishes.
PROBLEM SOLVER WOOD BRIGHTENER
Brightens, conditions, and removes extractive tannin bleed and rust stains.

SPECIALTY EXTERIOR STAINS
AUSTRALIAN TIMBER OIL
This line is the best for rough ’n tough outdoor conditions because this stain will protect your wood in 3 different ways- with pure, superior-grade linseed oil, time-tested tung oil, and durable long-oil alkyds. The pigments are earth-ground and provide even more excellent U.V. protection than synthetic pigments. This is a great choice if you want heavy-duty protection and a rich, long-lasting finish.

CABOT GOLD
This line boasts a hardwood floor finish on decks and outdoor furniture, so this is a fantastic choice if you desire a polished sheen on your patio. Like most Cabot products, Cabot Gold blocks U.V. rays and mildew and resists cracking and peeling.

DECKCORRECT RESURFACER
If your deck is structurally sound but in otherwise rough shape, this product will come to your rescue. You can apply this like paint with a standard roller, and it will completely cover graying, lock down splinters, fill cracks, and block stains. It wears beautifully, resisting peeling and cracking. The finish is skid-resistant but smooth.

BLEACHING STAIN
This unique formulation accelerates the natural weathering process of uncoated exterior wood. Contains a small amount of grey pigment and a chemical ingredient that bleaches the wood’s surface. If you’re looking for driftwood grey, this is a fabulous choice!

TRADITIONAL WOOD STAINS
WOOD TONED DECK & SIDING STAIN
This resin-oil formulation will give you a translucent finish that protects and enhances your wood. This is a great choice if you already have beautiful lumber in excellent condition and just want to highlight and accent the grain. It’s water-repellent, mildew-resistant, and requires only one coat.

SEMI-TRANSPARENT / SEMI-SOLID DECK & SIDING STAIN
These are pigmented, deeply penetrating stains with varying degrees of opacity- semi-transparent is lightly pigmented, allowing the beauty of the wood to show through, whereas the semi-solid has excellent hiding coverage. Both oil and water-based formulas are available. These stains will weather slowly over time without fading and are U.V. and scuff resistant.
SOLID/SEMI-SOLID DECK & SIDING
If you’re looking for a richly pigmented, profoundly penetrating, oil-based stain, look no further. This provides high hiding power in a one-coat application. The semi-solid allows some wood texture to show through, while the solid color is a full coverage stain similar to paint. The solid color also comes in a water-based formula, which will require two coats.

SOLID COLOR ACRYLIC SIDING STAIN
Ideal for siding, shingles, and trim, this is a self-priming, fade-resistant 100% acrylic water-based stain. It’s heavily pigmented and exceptionally thick and will quickly get you through your project. It comes in a ton of different colors, too!

O.V.T. SOLID COLOR OIL STAIN
This stain combines features of both stain and paint, resulting in tremendous hiding power yet resistant to cracking, peeling, and blistering. The O.V.T. provides a water-repellent, long-lasting finish made of a potent blend of alkyd resin and linseed oil. Also comes in a lower V.O.C. formula.

WATERPROOFER & CLEAR SEALER
Cabot Waterproofing is a silicone waterproofing sealer that adheres to various surfaces. The formula penetrates and fills substrate pores for long-lasting repellency.
Cabot Clear Wood Protector is a deep, penetrating waterproofer similar to Cabot Waterproofing, except with U.V. protection and a mold & mildew resistant coating. You can use this on other porous surfaces, such as masonry, brick, and concrete.
