Peek Into Color Psychology With the Paint Color of the Year

PL GRAY MIST
2022 Pratt and Lambert Color of the Year - Gray Mist

A belated Happy New Year from the Paint Department at Hartnagel Building Supply & Angeles Millwork!

Pratt & Lambert, one of our go-to paint brands for interior and exterior use, introduced their 2022 Color Trends and Color of the Year for 2022- Gray Mist (419B), a soft sage with a grey undertone.

If you do a little digging, you’ll notice that almost every paint company chose a shade of green as their 2022 Color of the Year- and through a color psychology lens, it’s evident as to why:

Color psychology is the scientific study of hues and their effect on human behavior. Color plays an essential role in creating certain moods and feelings and can influence everything from what shampoo bottle you pick up at the drugstore to whether you’ll feel tired or ready to start your day as you sip your morning cup of coffee in your kitchen.

I think we can all agree that seeking peace and calm in our ever-changing world has, quite literally, colored how we move throughout our days, and our homes are reflecting that. Green, especially a soft green, invokes feelings of tranquility, reminding us of the natural world- of Spring and its promises of renewal. Spring, and all its blossoming greenness, has an optimistic quality, as well; we all know that every year, the cold and stark winter will always eventually make way for the fresh blossoming rebirth that Spring promises us.

Design-wise, a soft muted green is a safe, well-liked color and can be used as a neutral design element in your space. It has a presence and a subtlety, making it a highly versatile and beautiful choice for any room in your home.

Our paint specialists would be more than happy to show you Gray Mist and any other color you please, as well as help you make informed decisions and plans for updating your personal oasis.
